Beyond the Break

she drank of the marrow,
pooling beyond the break

I, lingering on the jagged
edge, watched as she turned
and spit vision in my face

Kaleidoscope haze…

I began to kiss the sky,
melting clouds on my tongue

she swang from heartstrings,
making temple bells ring
one by one

I swallowed bliss and let
it pool beyond the break

she, frolicking in the
root bed of my annals,
turned as I spit vision
into her face

our fingertips melted as
we made patient eyes

swirling the time-band spiral
into the speed of light

swallowing one another
beyond the break, we spit
vision onto the page

mellifluous fade…

“The Light Side of Selfish” – from Southpaw Essentials, by C Rose

All things have a shadow cast by their light. At times there are things that present the shadow before the light, keeping us hidden from the light completely. In the journey of self healing one should build their vision to detect even the smallest echo of light as the focus of their direction. Consider the negative behaviors and emotions we spend many hours and tears wandering in the darkness, trying to rid ourselves of in futility. We are unsuccessful as these are part of our being and they carry equal importance in our self discovery. Rather our efforts should be in the listening to the first echos of these “negatives”, using them to attract a “positive” response. When we pay attention to the beginnings of these emotions, we may understand what was the seed and how to best bloom through them into being with compassion.
